The early morning sky above the Rio Grande River in Big Bend National Park was almost too beautiful to behold. Seeing the milky way in the sky above Santa Elena Canyon was truly a gift that will not be forgotten.
Even though I have a move shoot move (MSM) rotator that is supposed to stop the motion of the stars I still have some movement in this image. My goal this year is to work on shots like this and improve them.
Oh! What a gift! And thanks so much for sharing it with us! We have a moonless night coming up on the 11th and I hope to capture The MW, hopefully as nicely as you have! The reflection is an added bonus!
Can I make this a favorite twice. I absolutely love this shot. Love the colors of reflection in the water. The question for you is what medium are you going to have this printed on. Spectacular.
@theredcamera Ellen... if you click on the EXIF link most of the time you can see the settings but here they are:

@kvphoto Thanks so much! That's a nice fast wide angle lens you have! The ISO wasn't as high as I might have thought...big aperture tho'. We have a moonless night tonight, but I don't know if it will be cloudless....or if I can drag myself out doors between 2 and 4am. But I sure want a Milky Way photo for my portfolio!
