Cohutta Wilderness

I was very happy to find road conditions to the Beech Bottom trail in excellent shape and I plan on returning next week to meet up with friends to make the hike. I haven't been since 2008. The trail ends at the Jack's River trail and I look forward to visiting Jack's River Falls next week if all goes to plan.

Such a wide expanse of forest. Great for a hike. But, there seems to have been some sort of event which killed a lot of trees. Fire maybe?
