2012 08 28 Pollock Park

South Africa’s cricket tour of England continued today with the second ODI being played in Southampton. All I will say about the result is that SA is now #1 in all three cricket formats. Go, Proteas, go!

In honour of one of South Africa's greatest cricketing families (not that I know of any connection between the Pollock greats and this little park in Gordon's Bay), I slipped away from the TV during the lunch break and took a few quick shots in Pollock Park.

(I’m back to using my P&S. I’ll try to figure out tomorrow what I’ve done to the 30D that has made all the colours very “washed out”).
I have used my P&S too the last couple of days the other is not as handy in my bag! The weather looks hot here but a lovely little garden spot.

Love the warm colours!
I didn't realise there was a match in Southampton - I'm afraid the cricket passes me by somewhat. :)

If it helps, when I first used an SLR, I was horrified by the colours - they looked flat and dull compared to my little Powershot. I was told that SLRs don't do as much processing on the photo as a P&S does (because they anticipate an SLR shot will undergo post-processing). I found a quick levels adjustment in a bit of editing software worked wonders (90% of the time 'auto' levels adjustment works wonders).
Not sure if it's what you're describing, but might be worth a try.

@humphreyhippo Thanks, HH - that's exactly the way I was feeling and it helps to know that I'm not the only one having experienced it! I suppose I expected too much from the DSLR.
