If you've been following me for a while you know that we bought .95 acres of waterfront property in July. There was a 55 year old house and a boat shed on the property. We wanted to keep both structures and build a new home closer to the ocean. However, for financial and bureaucratic reasons the old house had to go. This is the view from the road. It took about an hour and a half to crush it and the rest of the day (the excavator was till there when I left at 5pm) to put the bits into double dump trucks, fill the hole and level out the surrounding ground. You can see the boat shed in the background and some of you might notice the facelift it's getting... new roof, windows and siding. My husband worked on it today.
It's sad when an old home gets torn down. That was someone dream home when it was first built. It's nice that you will now be building your dream home.
Very cool collage of all the excitement going on in your life :) I can't wait to see it all finished :) I am sure you are excited for that as well! Keep posting shots so we can take part in your joy :)
Wow....that's an exciting step towards your new home. Looks like a wonderful piece of land for your new place. Looking forward to following the construction.
wonderful time lapse shots Kwind How exciting for you this must be! We had our house built and I remember the trips to watch its progress each week and then the joy of making it into our home inside
Ha that's really interesting and good that you have a record of it. Looking forward to seeing how it progresses. Thanks for notifying me that cotoneaster got onto PP - I hadn't realised.
Oh wow, that is a great way to remember the demolition, but I can understand it was probably tough to see it go. I can't wait to see your new house completed though, I absolutely love the plans for it!
We did the same thing about 6 or 7 years ago. Except our lake house was more of a dump. It had a center part that had been nice...real wood all over inside...but through the years, they had added n to it three times on three sides, to make it have separate entrances to rent out the parts I guess to others. And it was a hot mess. It was weird to see that machinery in the mist of the morning....starting to tear it down. We had used the house one summer first...it just felt weird!
