What a Difference 3.5 Months can Make

Those who have followed for a while know about my soon to be 11 year old son's health issues. It all started with a bout of diarrhea back in mid September that lasted nearly a month. After numerous tests and a colonscopy it was determined that he has Ulcerative Colitis. The shot on the left was taken on our last trip to Children's Hospital in early February. He was down to 5ml (his max dose was 40ml) of prednisone and took a couple more doses after this day. The right hand shot was taken tonight. He has lost the 15 lbs he gained from that nasty drug and has decided to grow out his hair! He takes two "long term" pills a day (with applesauce) now and is feeling so much better than he was in the fall. There's still more tummy aches than I'd like but the worse seems to be over!

Here's another shot from today: http://365project.org/kwind/extra-shots/2014-05-19
Oh my goodness, what a difference!!!!!! I don't know his whole story, but I hate to hear any kid (or anyone) going through any kind of health issues. I am so glad to hear, and see, that's he's doing SO much better!!!! And, they're great shots too!! Fav!!

Great photo! And I'm glad to hear he's doing better.

So happy for Gage and you. Definitely side effects of certain drugs are so nasty. Hopes he continues improving.

Fav. This is great. The difference is fantastic. His spirit comes through in both shots. It's awful to watch kids going through ill health. My eldest granddaughter has kidney problems; juvenile arthritis and a fantastic fighting spirit. So glad everything is getting better. You can begin to relax now.

No one wants to see her child in ill health, and I can only imagine how difficult it was to always be up-in-spirit for him when you no doubt feel miserable to see this happening to your son. He certainly looks wonderful now...the beautiful child he was meant to be. My very best to the both of you and to his continued recovery & good health.
