We sold our hot tub and christened our new Swim Spa this morning. It is 14' long and 9' wide and is designed to be used as a hot tub for lounging or for exercising. There are jets on the far end and you swim into them. It's basically a treadmill for the water! I think it's going to get lots of use! It was rather surreal for me to be swimming outside with the ocean right there! I'm not a fan of public (pee infested) pools so this going to be ideal.
This just makes me smile! I am reminded of our summer days with a kiddie pool. My kids had a friend who had a bigger pool, like this, in their backyard. What a treat!
@vickisfotos I'm liking it! I've used it everyday since we got it. It different than regular swimming because there's water sort of splashing in your face a bit but I'm getting used to it. I'm using it in other ways than "laps". I jumping in place, tread water against the current and hang on to the end and just kick. I can feel my legs and arms afterwards.
Oh this looks fabulous! We stayed at a place that had one of those... seriously considered putting one in the spare downstairs room but the view wasn't half so nice
@shepherdmanswife I live in Vancouver island, BC, Canada. We have decent weather mist if the tune but lots if rain in the fall/winter. The pool can go up to hottub temperature if we want.
@kwind Oh you are so lucky. We are coming over to Vancouver later this year for a holiday, and @shepherdman wants to spend some time on Vancouver Island before we travel to Banff and Jasper. As Vancouver Island is so big, can you recommend anything we should not miss seeing there?
@shepherdmanswife You must visit my birth place and the capital of our province, Victoria. Stay somewhere near the Inner Harbour downtown. It's beautiful there. The famous Empress Hotel is there and our Legislative Buildings. The Royal BC museum is right there and definitely worth a visit. Walk along Government Street, through Chinatown and all along the inner Harbour. Go for an ice cream cone at the Beacon Hill Drivein and stroll through Beacon Hill Park. There's a water park and a petting zoo for the kids. Butchart's Gardens is in saanich (near where the ferry from Vancouver comes in) and is SPECTACULAR. It's pricy but truly a once in a lifetime experience everyone should see.
Great way to exercise.
