After our Canal tour in St. Petersburg we walked through the impressive Yusupov Palace. It was crazy to think that a family of four had lived in this MASSIVE mansion with 200 servants taking care of them. The family was exceedingly rich! The building is perhaps most famous as the scene of the assassination of Grigory Rasputin. This bedroom was huge and very blue!!
So elegant and over done. They did love to flaunt their wealth, didn't they? It’s always amazing to me how they have preserved the grandeur through the centuries, their cathedrals and palaces almost defy description, they are so lavish.
Such a majestic bedroom and very historic if it was here that Rasputin was stabbed to death - though, if I remember correctly, he managed to escape and was found dead in the river nearby.
@sangwann He wasn't killed IN this room, the beginning of his death started in the building - in the basement. We toured there too. It was all set up like it was that day supposedly. He was shot but managed to escaped and found dead outside nearby. There's a new Netflix series call The Last Czars that goes into lots of detail. It was interesting to watch having just been there.
I like blue- but probably not this much. I admire the beauty and artistry but this is definitely not my style and I 'm glad I don't have to dust it! Good shot!
