A Walk with Stile. by ladymagpie

A Walk with Stile.

I returned to a place I haven't been to for 50 to 60 years, and a wood we all went to to play as children. This is the Bluebell Wood beside the railway a couple of miles from my home.

I was out looking for a geocache just out of shot, and thought this stile and gateway look nice against the woodland. Just think as a little child I would come out of this wood with bundles of bluebells for my Mother. Didn't like how the gate was chained up and you have to use the trick stile, well for an old pensioner.

I also love the wood against the green of the trees and the grass. It is so good going back, provided things haven't changed too much! Super image.

Lucky to retrace your childhood footsteps, Heather. Where my sis and I used to walk in the country with our grandad in Suffolk, the land is totally covered with houses. And you have bluebells!

@philcameron59 Thanks Phil, actually yes. Just to the left of my was a wooden fence looking down on a railway cutting, we used to sit on this fence waving to the train passengers as they went by. Just like the railway children and with proper steam trains.

Beautiful! What a place for memories. I'm just curious, Heather, but it's so close to you, why didn't you re-visit it sooner?

@congaree Hi John thanks for your comment and FAV. That's an interesting question, this is tuck away from anywhere you would normally go. The path only leads to the woods and at my age it didn't have the same interesting. Also 400 yds behind me is a very large sewage works which at times doesn't lend to be down there.

It is so picturesque, I always wobble when climbing over a style!

@claireuk @thresheg Thank you both for your comments and A FAV. Claire, a couple of years ago I was chased across a field by two large horses, I cleared the stile OK but landed on my back with my arms and legs in the air, like a dying fly.

The only think I know about stiles is what I've seen in movies made from Jane Austen novels. Where is Elizabeth Bennet?

@linnypinny @juliac @kathiecb @khawbecker Thank you for your comments and FAV, as for Elizbeth Bennet was up to no good with Mr. Darcy in the Wood, I didn't want to disturb them.
