Lacecap Hydrangea by ladymagpie

Lacecap Hydrangea

Yet another unusual flower from my friends garden, I seem to find new one every time I go down there, fortunately I haven't been told to buzz off yet and I'm greeted with a nice cup of Earl Grey tea.

This is called a Lacecap Hydrangea, and grows like any other Hydrangea until it suddenly grow these large flowers around the edge. I assume the name comes from olden time when ladies wore caps that had white lace around the rims.
Beautiful! The colors of the blooms are lovely against that green!
