The Cream of Jugs by ladymagpie

The Cream of Jugs

The title is a play on words with it actually a cream jug. I found my way to my local auction house one day to pick up an item I had won on line. I have to say that this is one of my favourite purchases to add to my collection.

It was manufactured in London in 1780, which makes it 239 years old. I wish I could see for myself all the owners and users over that period, what stories could it tell. King George III was on the throne and probably this jug would have been used by the upper classes.

If you look closely there are several designs in the silver, including a cow being milked by milk maid facing you in the picture. Now unfortunately I haven't got the servant's to keep it clean every day, but I'll do my best. It is in a SAFE place somewhere.
A beautiful jug, lovely intricate designs. Fav!! 😀

@gilbertwood This jug was made just 10 years after Captain Cook (No relative) discovered Australia.

@ladymagpie He actually didn't discover it - Australia was here way before he arrived :)

@gilbertwood Yes I agree with you, in fact it's been there millions of years, we just didn't know about it Denise. We do love you all down there as well.
