A Stroll along the Boulevard. by ladymagpie

A Stroll along the Boulevard.

I always enjoy a mini shop to add to my supermarket delivery, still items missing each week. It then lets me get out and about to find my daily capture to upload on my 365 Project.

I've moved up to close to where my late big Sister Mo lived, and within a hundred yards you come across this lovely spot which is called The Boulevard. This is not quite the famous Hollywood Boulevard, but I think this has more beauty,

It gives you just a short stroll, with trees on the left keeping traffic away, whilst on the right are several Cotswold stone cottages which are hundreds years old. It's the stonework colours and the neat little front gardens that makes it so pretty, please remember that as I come up with a sad part of my story.

A 1989 a fire was discovered in the far cottage, and when the fire brigade arrived they found the body of a murdered lady. Although there was a sighting of a strange man sat on a bench in the middle of the night nearby, the murder has never really been solved, although saying that the police had a good idea who was responsible.

Unusually in 2014, and in a bungalow almost opposite these cottages, an old 82 year man was found murdered after being stabbed over 40 times. His gardener was caught and found guilty of this murder.

It would make you wonder if my late Sister was living in a very safe village, don't worry it really is a lovely area.

Keep smiling.
Beautiful little street - and interesting history!

This changes my stereotypical view of English villages, minimal walkways between houses and street (narrow).

Which begs the question: could this walkway have been a street at one time?

@byrdlip No it's been here since ever and is raised quite high above the road.

Wow! Sounds like Midsommer Murders or Miss Marple :)
But the scene is so quiet and lovely.

Just found out that my big Brother who is a retired policeman, had the duty to stand guard outside the cottage where the lady was murdered.

An idyllic scene , the mellow Cotswold stone in the properties , the Avenue of trees , and such a quiet spot as long as you do not look too far back in history - What sinister happenings in such a beautiful and sleepy place . A lovely capture and composition ! fav

Extraordinary to hear of two murders on this stretch of road…..such pretty villages in the Cotswolds but not immune to bad things like everywhere else. Good story!
