This is the town of Stonehouse, and not far from my village. I used to live here between 1951 and 1962, returning also during my early married days. The garage was here and I remember having a morning paper round that took me down the lane between the garage and the very old cottage.
I remember some of the mechanics standing next to a side door; they always said morning as I went by whistling as loud as I could, some of my customers used to use me as their morning alarm clock. The Tudor cottage was built in the mid 1600 and has had many uses since the old lady left in the 1960's.
The garage along with a lovely Congregational Chapel was pulled down in the 1960’s; the chapel had been previously destroyed by fire, and along came this Coop Supermarket. I know which I prefer. Have you noticed that those posh cars from the 1930's have number plates in sequence?
How nicely arranged are all those cars!!!
