A warm welcome for the British at Collioure

This 18 pounder cannon sits on the waterfront in Collioure. It was cast in 1812 as a cannon for the coastal defence force, and thus was intended to keep the Royal Navy at bay. I can't find any references to Collioure itself being attacked during the Napoleonic period, but batteries at the adjacent port of Port Vendres were attacked by the Royal Navy in 1808.
Wonderful lighting and mood!

I get the feeling you like your adopted country, I would like to spend a prolonged period of time there myself. I was born on the 14th of July and for some reason France celebrates me annually....

@dyanstevens Thanks. It was 10 minutes before sunrise and I used flash to light up the cannon.

Great lighting. I'm always wary of flash but it's worked a treat here.
