Castle of the Vultures

This is the ruin of the château d'Ultrera. Jasper and I made it up there, a sporting climb, and I took this photo on the way down. The castle is believed to have been first built during the era of Pompey and Julius Caesar, but these ruins are from the time of the Visigoths, 6th to 7th Century.
so interesting, and it just have been a very sporting climb! fav

Ahhh, now I see it! I like the strong sun/shadow here--adds to the drama I think.

Amazing to think that you and Jasper are the latest in a long line of interested parties walking up to the castle/ruins over the centuries. You two do have some wonderful walks. Great contrasts of colours and textures.
