Poppies , I work for Colas a French road construction company , i think that may be one of our surfaces . If so you have captured it beautifully , the red poppies add great contrast.....
@jack4john The road was widened and re-surfaced in February and they made a great job of it. Poppies grow in disturbed soil so I guess that is why there are so many of them this year. Don't know if it was done by Colas, but they are currently working on the road through the village, so it's a possibility.
Ah ha I had heard that before about poppies, that was why they grew so well in the Somme. They are such a delicate little flower and so attractive, not common in Ireland alas..
