Dragons Catalans

On Saturday our local rugby team, the Dragons Catalans, went to London to contest the final of the Challenge Cup and won. Naturally this is a big event in rugby-mad Perpignan, the first time in 121 years that a non-English team has been victorious. Here local singer Al Chemist (yes, really!) is warming up the crowd before the victors parade their trophy.

He identified the reasons why they floored (French verb 'terrasser') the English as:
1. They are Catalans (well, apart from the not-a-few Australians and Pacific Islanders, and a coach from Yorkshire).
2. They eat snails and garlic.
3. They learn to play rugby wearing espadrilles ( a traditional Catalan flip-flop)
4. They are short and hairy.
