Oak Tree Galls... by laurieewilson

Oak Tree Galls...

Apparently they are a parasite to the Oak tree, but I thought they looked interesting. Kind of like a pear or a potato growing on the tree limb.

Still playing catch up! Bear with me!
Amazing shot Laurie, Stellenbosch where I live is known as "Oak tree town". I've never seen anything like this before.

wow they are amazing galls, I wonder what causes them, kind of feels like an insect type.

@koalagardens They are a fungus. Different, right? Insects like them. Thanks for commenting!

@ludwigsdiana I never had, either....no galls on trees there? Maybe that is a good thing, though they do not seem to hurt the tree. Thanks again for commenting!

Yeah, that's a new one to me. Almost looks like it's been skewered on there.

@nickspicsnz @lyndamcg I had not seen it before, either. It was one of those shoot pics and find the details later moments. 😀 Thanks for commenting!
