I decided to follow up my question yesterday about the blanket of white on the marsh with a close up of a seagull, so it was back to the Herring Run for another shot. For months I tried to get a close up of a seagull on the beach with no luck. The hunting of herring apparently makes them bold, because this is how close I got to this guy. No zoom required. I love the fact that seagulls mate for life. Even if their mate dies, they do not take a new one.
This is a beautiful shot...great bird and background. I didn't know that about seagulls. What an interesting little factoid. I think I may have a new appreciation for them.
He seems to be posing for you, and he looks very confident. Great shot! I was trying to get pix of a large gaggle of geese todays, but I am respectfully cautious around them, so I wouldn't go too close. This is a wonderful shot! I would hang it in my house. :-)
@aj1268 I did see that one! So funny...and scary too! When Sophie was a toddler, a geese found the bare skin near the edge of her pants and her sock and bit her! No broken skin, thank god, but there was a mark. Her big sis was carrying her and felt so badly, but it was totally without provocation.
