The difference a day makes...One of the things I love most about living in New England is the variety of weather. It is snowing like crazy now, but I took this photo at Nauset Beach late this afternoon before it started. I love the snow fencing on our beaches and it seemed like a fitting subject for today. When I got to the beach the sky was dark except for that strip of pale pink at the horizon.
@westcoastwallis It's called snow fencing because its original use was to control drifting snow, but they use it on the beaches here to stop erosion. The zig-zag pattern traps wind blown sand and creates new dunes. When new, it is about 48 inches high, so this photo shows some snow fencing that has done its job and needs replacing.
