Another shot from yesterdays adventure. This one was not too far from yesterdays St Brigid church, at a tiny little village called Barry.
And yep, that folks is corrugated iron! I can't imagine how hot that would be inside during summer! And this is one that is still in use, believe it or not....once a month service, the 3rd Sunday of each month at 9am, if anyone is interested in attending...lol
I can't find any info on when the church was built, but did find a newspaper article about centenary celebrations in 2012....so it must have been built in 1912.
They must have been determined to build a church no matter what material they had. I think it's great they're still using it. It must sound quite pretty in there during a rain shower.
Beautiful. Love the rust on the roof (I assume it is rust) and those rectangle windows. Must be like a sauna in the summer time. And yeah, @deborah63 how noisy it must be when the rain comes.
Cute little church, but it would have been stifling in Summer, freezing in Winter and unbearably noisy in a downpour. We lived in a corrugated iron house when we were teaching in Menzies, (the school was corrugated iron too) but at least we had huge pepper trees all around it :)
