This beautiful stone church was built c1875. It was built by Dean O'Donovan in Victorian Gothic style with an Italianate bell tower, to cater for 19 families of the district, who provided their own seating! - (First I have heard of something like this! I guess they couldn't afford seating at the time?!) The new stone church replaced a small timber slab church built in the 1850's. The soaring steeply pitched roof, ornate timber lace fretwork, masonry courses and Italianate bell tower give it great appeal. The western end of the nave was added in 1960 in a matching style. The stone came from a private chapel on 'Monivae', a sheep and cattle grazing property approximately 21 kilometres from Rylstone.
So there you have my 'month of churches' :)
I have HEAPS of shots that did not make the cut (probably another month's worth - not sure if I will share them in the coming weeks/months - perhaps when I don't have a shot for a particular day - or maybe do another month of churches at some point?!)
This was fun to do a theme for the month, and I have a couple of ideas for other themes at different points throughout the year. Not every month - but stay tuned :)
