This shot gives a good view of The Sydney Harbour Bridge arches, which is where you climb on the bridge climb.
If you can zoom in on the arch on the right, about 3/4 of the way up, you can see a group of bridge climbers, all wearing blue. So the climb brings you up through a series of ladders to the arch on the right, you then go all the way up to the top where the flags are - if you zoom in, you can see all the steps. You stop a couple of times on the way up & the climb guide takes some photos, both individual & group shots. Then when at the top where the flags are, you cross over the middle to the left arch, and then work your way back down, pretty much repeating going up, but in reverse. It is all very safe & you're literally connected to the bridge at all times via a sliding cable that youre attached to at one end & the other end is attached to the bridge & it slides/moves along as you go.
This shot was taken from the top of the right/southern pylon which houses a museum on the history of the bridge. Looking down, you can see the pedestrian footpath where yesterdays shot of the harbour & opera house was taken from.
Great shot. We did the Sydney Harbour Bridge climb when we visited Australia in 2005. Great thing to do at sunset- couldn't believe you even had to have your hankies pinned to your suit in case they fell onto the road.
This is quite impressive. Not sure if I’d be brave enough to make the climb. I’ve enjoyed browsing through your photos. Hope you don’t mind me giving you a follow.
