Number 365

With this picture I finish my first year on 365.
I found it an amazing year in which I learned more about photography and post-processing and pushed myself to take a picture every day, which I didn’t always manage but I think I completed my project with a minimum amount of “fillers”.

I did found the project easier going in the spring and the summer because I prefer to shoot outside and you simply have more daylight then.

Because there are so many different photographers on 365 each with their own styles it inspires to get out of your comfort zone and try different types of photography and “borrow” ideas of other photographers. I´ve done some shots this year I would never have thought about without the 365 project.

I do find this site very time consuming however, I currently follow around 30 people and it takes me around half an hour each day just to view and comment on their pictures, that´s why I find it amazing that some people follow 200+ people, where do you get the time to view all those pictures?

So now the question do I stay or do I go? I will stay around for a second year, however I’m going to take another approach. Because I usually leave for work at 7:45am and don’t come home until 6:30pmwith no photo opportunities at work (not much to photograph on an industrial estate) I found it very difficult to find time or subjects to shoot in the evening. So I won’t push myself any more to take a photo every day but will try to do my photography when I have the time and opportunity, so mostly in the weekends.
I won’t comment on photo’s as much as I currently do but will try to keep up with the projects of most of the people I follow.

Plans for year 2:
- have more time for my other hobbies, most importantly reading and maybe start a new study.
- I do love macro and animal/wildlife photography so will focus more on those subjects but will also participate in some workshops to experiment with totally different kinds of photography like Urbex this year.
- I’m also thinking about buying studio equipment to have better control of my lighting. A desklamp and flashlight can only get you so far.
- Last week I turned the dial on my camera from jpeg+raw to only raw so it will be a challenge to post-process all my photo's.
- I've got big hopes on the Canon 7d mk II coming out this year so hope to upgrade to that camera, my 550d lacks low light quality and is slowly falling apart due to heavy use in all conditions.
- Planning another trip to South Africa

Thank you to all my followers for your comments, favs and suggestions during this year, I appreciate all comments and I know it isn't done a lot on 365 but critique is also welcome.

p.s. I made a quick slideshow video of 50 of my best shots this year. It can be found in my alternative album: http://365project.org/leonbuys83/second-album/2014-02-22
