Month Of Hearts

Hearts have been popping up in San Francisco since 2004 when Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital’s philanthropic foundation began the project called Hearts in San Francisco, to raise money for equipment, services and grants to address community health-care needs.

This heart called "A Colorfall of Hope," was inspired by a watercolor that Deirdre Weinberg had done of a dripping rainbow washing over two entwined hands. It weights 400 pounds. She had been trying for years to be chosen to paint a heart and finally in 2020 she got her chance.

I took this picture in September while visiting my son and daughter in law. Saving it till now for my MOH month project. I'm sure I could fill many months just with San Francisco hearts located all around the city if I lived there. I just did some deep dive googling to find the information about this heart since I knew nothing. I also didn't see that little guy painted up in the left hand corner till today and couldn't find the story behind him. Maybe he's one of the guys that she modeled the hands after.
FAV What a wonderful heart and back story!
