This is the local nick name for this dead end street. My guess is because this cement barrier that goes across the dead end street is falling apart.This hole looks big but it's really not, I am practically touching it using my wide angle lens. It's low tide right now which made this shot possible. High tide (early morning) this whole cement barrier is underwater. One towns Wall Of Shame is a wonderful POV for a photographer.
