Heading out for our early morning walk Bob notices the first chrysalis has turned black. It won’t be long. We get back from our walk and I grab a few pics with the camera before setting up my phone on a tripod in hopes of capturing the butterfly emerging. I sat on the porch waiting and munching on some Sugar Pops cereal for about an hour. We had to head out at 10:30 today so I hit record and went in to get cleaned up hoping no one would steal my phone off the porch. Wasn’t too worried but you never know. Came back out and she was just hanging and drying her wings. I went to You Tube to figure out how to edit my 17 minute video on IMovie to 2 minutes. Hope you enjoy Sally’s entry into the world. We now wait for her two siblings. 😊 Sadly caterpillar number 4 must have had a problem with his/her chrysalis and did not survive.
Every time I am amazed how those cute caterpillars turn in such a beautiful butterflies. I have many caterpillars but have not yet detected where they all go once they completely eat my plants.
Awesome! I would love to do this some time- maybe next year I can find a way to do it in a butterfly tent or something. My attempts to grow milkweed have failed terribly but there is some really close by that they could easily fly to. The video turned out really well too!
