First Cut

It's a bit late for the first cut of silage but it is now upon us. I always worry when looking at fields of cut grass as I wonder if they contained any bird's nests. Especially for Curlews and I know there were some in this field. Hopefully with it being later this year the young may already have got big enough to escape the mower.

hard with those ground nesting birds and also all the wildflowers that relied on the longer maturation time of hay to grow and seed and are now so rare with the prevalence of silage
