At the time, I thought maybe I just never noticed these strange wispy shadows on the sidewalk before. Then I started reading about all the eclipse viewers who also saw shadows like these - really odd...Thanks for getting my friends on the pop page yesterday - I showed her the 365 site today at the office - a very nice surprise!
That is exactly how I felt about them when I saw them too Lin. Then it dawned on me what I was seeing and it was super exciting! Yours are fabulous and so much clearer than mine were
This is a great shot of an amazing phenomenon - I have never heard of this before, so I got qurious and googled it and found this description: "The shadows cast by trees during a solar exlipse: The tiny gaps between leaves act as pinhole lenses, projecting crescent shaped images of the eclipsed sun onto the world below". Absolutely fascinating. Thanks for sharing a shot of this rare phenomenon.
So glad you posted this! I saw a photo of my son on FB down on his hands and knees looking at the ground during the eclipse, but I had no idea why he was doing so. Now I know!
@linnypinny Very cool capture you have here!
