I’m starting to get a reputation for being weird. Or should I say I’m further cementing the reputation I already have? On my lunch hour I decided to investigate the field that borders our office parking lot. I know the other occupants in our building are wondering what I’m up to since I’ve been taking pictures around the building and in the lobby. Anyway, I walked through a bunch of weeds and discovered a cess pool, er pond, behind them. Despite a bit of trash, it was actually full of life with frogs, dragonflies, a variety of insects and even a Green Heron. I was so excited at my discovery and managed to get a couple of decent pictures with my macro lens not to mention a few itchy things stuck to my pant legs. Tomorrow I’m going back with a different lens to see if I can find that heron again!
Oh, I believe this is a moth, but I couldn’t find it anywhere in my web search. Sending out a plea for help to @bobfoto! Edited to add that I was apparently wrong about it being a moth!
Fabulous! I actually see these kind of butterflies around my house, but they are too fast for me. This is so focused....and perfect. I think people are starting to wonder about me as well....so you aren't alone. haha!
I will tell you what it is, it is awesome, amazing and beautiful. I gave it a fave because of the clarity and the detail and color in the shot. Not bad for a lunch time shot. great job
@sarasdadandmom Sometimes I think it’s sheer dumb luck. Most of the bugs kept flying away, but I happened upon this dim witted one that didn’t know he was supposed to be afraid. Thank you for the compliment.
@lisjam1 When I find shots like this, I save them, to show to people who are friends, who are struggling with their photography skills. It is such a beautiful shot.
Isn't it interesting where the camera can lead us. You might never have ventured over to that pond area had you not been on a search for a photo. Wonderful butterfly capture...great composition with the Queen Anne's Lace.
