My sister-in-law's darling old dog "Jana" had to be put to sleep.
On Monday I received a distressed call from my sister-in-law to say that her beloved "Jana" was very ill & would have to be to sleep.
This is something we all dread when we have a pet.
I assured her that she was doing the right thing for her darling pet- to let her go.
We loved her as much a they did.
We cried together and remembered the wonderful life she had.
She is now with our "Jesse" running through fields, free from pain.
I love this poem below:
Your Pets In Heaven
by Ken D. Conover
To have loved and then said farewell, is better than to have never loved at all.
For all of the times that you have stooped and touched my head, fed me my favourite treat and returned the love that I so unconditionally gave to you.
For the care that you gave to me so unselfishly.
For all of these things I am grateful and thankful.
I ask that you not grieve for the loss, but rejoice in the fact that we lived, loved and touched each others lives.
My life was fuller because you were there, not as a master/owner, but as my FRIEND.
Today I am as I was in my youth. The grass is always green, butterflies flit among the flowers and the Sun shines gently down upon all of God's creatures.
I can run, jump, play and do all of the things that I did in my youth. There is no sickness, no aching joints and no regrets and no ageing.
We await the arrival of our lifelong companions and know that togetherness is forever.
You live in our hearts as we do in yours. Companions such as you are so rare and unique.
Don't hold the love that you have within yourself. Give it to another like me and then I will live forever. For love never really dies, and you are loved and missed as surely as we are.
Awww you got me going now Lois!!! Losing a pet is so hard, it leaves such a big hole in your life and heart. I love the poem you have attached.....thanks for sharing and toughts to your family.
Sweet little Jana was always a lovely dog. She barked and jumped around when she was young and bowled everyone over getting up and down the stairs - nearly tripping us up most of the time - otherwise, she enjoyed being noticed before going back on her bed.
She off now chasing the rabbits and enjoying warm sun on her head as she runs through the fields that go on forever. :)
I'm so sorry for your family's loss. That poem made me cry. It's so hard to lose a pet, especially around the holidays, but your sister in law made the right decision to ease Jana's suffering.
I know how you all feel, I can relate. I almost lost one of my babes a couple of days ago and I had to euthanize Sagwa about a month ago. I'm so sorry for your lose and I love the attached poem.
Fav. :)
