Today, my Sister-in-Law Narelle, was given a wonderful retirement send off by Mt Gravatt State School where she works as a Teacher Aide. A special Assembly was planned for her & Bernie & I were invited to share this experience.
Narelle got to sit in the "big chair" - saved for special people on special occasions. Of course this was one such occasion.
The afternoon went off well with every class performing a musical item especially written for her.
The sign at the front of the school noted this special occasion for parents to attend.
Narelle has worked here for the past 30 years & she has seen a lot of changes to the Education System here in Queensland. I was mentioned that she was there "BEFORE COMPUTERS". What a reaction that got from the kids :D
Friday will be her last day.
Happy Retirement Narelle, may all your dreams come true. Now you & Iain can do all those wonderful things you have been planning for years.
What a great send off and well deserved I'm sure. I have a chair just like that in my class room. It is decorated as the "Birthday Chair" and you may only sit in it if it is your Birthday!
