The Koi pond

We had dinner last evening at a friend’s home on the lake. They have set up elaborate motion sensors and sprinkler jets to keep the Grey Herons away from their Koi fish. They built a cave at one end of the pond for the fish to hide in and they also winter in the cave. This for my half and half today, half pond, half steps.

Such a beautiful koi pond! I'm amazed at the measures they have to take to keep the Grey Herons away from the fish. I'd love to have a koi pond like this in my back yard but I know from having just a small pond, the upkeep involves A LOT of work. :-)
