To celebrate my friend Catherine's birthday we went to the Arlington Museum of Art to see the Milton Greene exhibit. He was a renowned fashion photographer in the 1950's. Ultimately his real legacy became his portraits of movie stars, musicians, singers and stage performers in the 50's and 60's. The exhibit in the museum was a "no photographs please" show, so when we left I photographed these two iconic stars from the building's window displays. That's Marilyn Monroe on the left and Kim Novak on the right. Greene, born in 1922, began taking photos when he was 14 and apprenticed under master fashion photographers, developing his unique portrait skills. His most famous subject was Marilyn Monroe, they formed a film production company and made three movies. If this exhibit comes to your city, don't miss it! Please humor me as I place this in the half and half theme, half Marilyn and half Kim.
Gosh ... just think ... how exciting to have photographed and immortalised such stars .... a wonderful legacy ... and without all the computers and digital cameras we use today ... lovely ... thank you for sharing :))
Wonderful and very different half & half photo! Thanks for sharing such interesting information in your description! This is an exhibit I would love to see! :-)
Consider yourself "humored"! Aren't these iconic images of the era! What a great time period to have been a fashion photographer when glamour was the real deal?!!!
