The Japanese Garden of Peace at the National Museum of the Pacific War

This garden was a gift from the people of Japan to the people of the United States, in honor of Fleet Admiral Chester W. Nimitz. It was dedicated and opened to the public in May of 1976; restored in 2015 and reopened in February of 2016. It is a meaningful living memorial to the friendship between Imperial Japanese Navy Marshall-Admiral Togo and Admiral Nimitz, following World War II.

@happysnaps The raked sand is supposed to represent the Pacific Ocean and the rocks represent islands.
