A Mesquite tree holding it’s place on the lake shore

Once a Mesquite tree roots in a place, it doesn’t yield. This one has kept just enough soil from eroding so it can continue to grow on the lake’s edge. It is true that Mesquites are the bane of a rancher’s existence, but here at the lake they provide resistance to the water’s erosion of the shoreline. That “paddling” (the name for a group of ducks in the water) of ducks in the water just kept paddling further away from me, the more I walked down the shoreline, the further away they swam. I think they were Mallards, but with the overcast sky, I couldn’t tell if they had the signature green Mallard heads.
It really stands it ground !!
