When money is no object

This is Art Glass with inlaid gold in the dining room of the Seelye Mansion in Abilene, Kansas. Dr Seelye made his money at the turn of the 20th century patenting “medicines” that he sold over a 14 State area. The Seelye’s went to the 1904 World’s Fair in St Louis and filled several train cars with furnishings for the 25 room mansion, which was completed in 1905. This for @pistache’s Technique 83 vintage challenge.
Beautiful glassware. How the other half live.

@onewing @ludwigsdiana @snowy @henrir @bruni @mittens @mave @gijsje @beryl @carolmw Thank you all for your comments. I wish I could remember the company that made this set, only 20 sets were made because it was so expensive.

Gorgeous, but, I would be afraid I would drop a glass...

This is amazing art glass and from your description of the Seelye Mansion, I'm sure it looks beautiful in the dining room there.

When money is no object, who needs taste! A bit much for me, I am afraid!

Wow! Looks amazing :)

I love the colour of the glass, it is my favourite colour. I would prefer it without the gold and if it was mine I would use it every day.

True vintage and very valuable. Imagine gold - you wouldn't want to drink from these glasses!

Nowadays we would call that wretched excess, but I’m sure it was all the rage at the turn of the century. Thanks for sharing.

Can you imagine using that every day?! Beautiful!

i've always wondered if the water or the juice would taste much better when drank from these expensive goblets! :-) but even if it would taste the same, it's just wrong to be drinking from these wearing cut off jeans or tights. must wear those corseted gowns and curly wavy wigs!
