Mobile is a true southern city, they have five historical districts with fine Victorian mansions. Live Oak Trees there are protected, you have to have permission to even trim one limb. Many of the homes had these old gas lamps on their lawns, they add just the right historical touch to the scenes. The thing about bus tours is window reflections and the windows not being clean, I just snap away anyway!
What a wonderful road trip that must have been! I've been there as my mother's family had relatives there, but I'd love to see it again as I'm old enough to appreciate it better!
@onewing@henrir@bkbinthecity@mittens@ludwigsdiana@carolmw@summerfield@happypat@gijsje@beryl@gardenfolk@gilbertwood@danette@kwind@Weezilou Mobile has been devastated by several hurricane through recent years, the citizen’s determination to build anew, to rebuild their grand Victorian homes is so amazing. If you want to get rich, become a house painter in Mobile. They are required to paint the wood on their house exteriors every 3-5 years! The historical committee is so stern and so strong there, you take care of your home or you are fined and/or thrown in jail! Due to the bus windows I did not get any really great photos of the Victorians but they are truly amazing homes. Thank you so much for your comments and faves. I appreciate every one!
