Drying Romaine lettuce seed pods

Everyone is planting vegetable gardens during this self isolation time, a neighbor is a master gardener and she gave me this seed pod stalk to dry. I’ve saved some of the seeds and in October I will plant them for winter lettuce.
good luck, I have self seeded lettuce I'm harvesting now! lovely chooks.

I'm no gardener! I didn't know lettuce got seed pods! What I did know was that I saw a chicken...and then another...it must be Lou Ann!

@Weezilou ha ha, I’m no gardener either but I thought it would be fun to plant some in the flowerbed in the fall. Yes, chickens. Lou Ann. 😊

Good for you! We are going to try herb gardening in pots. We can't plant anything in the yard because the deer just decimate the plants here. But the deck is usually safe! We just have to cover the pots with wire so the squirrels don't eat the seeds before the plants take root. Life in the woods!
