Our neighbor’s palm did not survive our February freeze. He had the fronds trimmed off and left the tree standing because the neighborhood squirrels nest inside. They climb to the top and disappear into the tree trunk. We have wondered if the squirrel activity led to its demise when the February deep freeze occurred.
the squirrels could have breached the xylem of the tree and thus it couldn't sustain itself anymore. what i remember from science in grade school. 😊 too bad for the palm tree.
