The Alamo by louannwarren

The Alamo

On March 6,1836, the last day of a 13 day battle for Texas independence from Mexico was fought at the Alamo. Every defender of the Alamo perished. Just six weeks later, on April 21,1836, the Texan army attacked the Mexican army, many soldiers shouting “Remember the Alamo”. Texas independence was won in an 18 minute battle. Every student of Texas history revers the Remember the Alamo battle cry.
I like your POV for the shot! So many photos show it straight on which is fascinating but this puts it in the context of present history and makes it even more interesting in my opinion.

@grammyn @mittens @ludwigsdiana @joemuli @joansmor @happypat thank you for your comments. I’m a crazy history nut and have loved the story of the Alamo all my life. Yes @ludwigsdiana, several movies have been made about the siege of this shrine to Texas Freedom. I’ve seen every one of them, more than once! 😊

Excellent shot! I've been there (years ago!) and found it difficult to photograph. I like that you showed the modern building in the background. Fav.

I didn't realize that it is in the middle of a city- now I understand why the stonework has deteriorated the way it has, Such a significant piece of not only Texan history but America's too.
