I-40 runs from Barstow, California on the west coast to Wilmington, North Carolina on the east coast. It is 2,557 miles (4,114 km) long. It is the great trucker road, eighteen wheelers are all over it. I was so thankful to see all the trucks when we took I-40 from New Mexico into Texas. We’ve had some major problems with freight recently, so glad to see it moving again.
I love how you chose to compose this one because it shows a wonderful long stretch of the highway. I get what you mean about seeing the trucks moving again too.
So interesting to read this Lou Ann. We have had what they call on massive shortage of lorry & truck drivers although strangely it seems to have gone as fast as it came. Everybody blamed Brexit although there was a shortage in Europe too. Seems it’s world wide. Your roads are so long & but so quiet compared with our busy roads!
@milaniet oh my, then you know all about the 18 wheelers! @happypat we had huge ships full of containers that couldn’t unload because the ports were full of containers that needed to be put on trucks and driven across country. The traffic congestion around the ports is legendary and I think the truckers couldn’t get to the ports to load up the containers. I understand a lot of the ships decided to go down to the Panama Canal and pass from the Pacific to the Atlantic and go to Houston and Miami to unload the containers. It is such a massive logistics process to get everything to its destination. I can’t even imagine keeping track of everything!
