I was struck by the “ Anti-gas impregnate paste for shoes”. It is in the flat round container to the left of the gas mask. The museum had several excellent displays of items for the troops. My father smoked Chesterfields, I had not thought about that for many years, until I saw this display.
Such important commodities for a soldier far from home. That packet would bring back memories…pity it wasn’t a smell museum too! Cigarette smoke is very evocative.
It recalls me of the game we used to play like naming the brands of cigarettes or the models of cars. You would go back and forth until someone couldn't come up with a new one. Today I couldn't name very many of either.
I remember both Chesterfields and Lucky Strike in tobacco shops around Malta. I like the shot and the items on display. What I cannot understand is why anti-gas paste for shoes.
