Awesome shot! It's not a beautiful plant in the typical way most people are used to, but I think it is beautiful. The intricacies are gorgeous and amazing. Looks like it is related to artichokes!
@ashesand Cindy, you are correct. An artichoke is an edible thistle. The "choke" part of the artichoke are those purple strands you see on a thistle like the one Laura shows here.
