put a cork in it! by ltodd

put a cork in it!

When I first found this object I knew it was beautiful, but I had no idea what it was! ... It took a few days to discover it is a cast iron cork press from the the 1890's that compresses cork so an apothecary (pharmacist) could seal medicine bottles.
The shot selection for today has taken a very long time - I don't know about you, but for me, sometimes it IS hard to know which photo to upload - which is 'better' or (hopefully) even the 'best' for the day! Today I ended up asking myself WHY I was first drawn to this object ( I loved the patina and dark rounded texture), and did I feel I had learnt something useful from todays challenge (I improved my understanding of exposure for blackest-black objects on white background). So, while there are shots with greater visual impact , this is my selection because I feel it reflects that I have 'met' my personal challenge for today ! :)
I LOVE IT!!!!

@pridge thanks so much for your feedback! I am not sure it is 'sucessful' in the purely visual sense, but after lengthy deliberation I am happy with my selection.
