So many new wild flowers after the fire...........

S.A. has the largest species of wild flowers in the world, more than 19,000! Last week we visited friends for a hike and lunch on their farm. It is about 80km's from us, on the Hottentots Holland mountain. The farm is actually only 300 hectares of mountain and vegetation. About two years ago there was a massive fire which destroyed all flora on the mountain. We were surprise to see how it has recovered and so many little plants have come up again.

Isn't it amazing how nature recovers from fire. I know that some fynbos species need fire for the germination of seeds.
