Our derelect station by ludwigsdiana

Our derelect station

as most things in this country, the railways don't function everywhere either. There is a guard sitting on the platform to make sure nothing gets stolen.

When one thinks that Stellenbosch is a university town with over 32,000 students, it is rather sad. This would be the station just before Stellenbosch (which is in the same condition)There is not even a functioning bus system here.
That's all very sad to think there isn't a functioning rail service.

It is a neat train station located in lovely countryside. It is sad that the station is not working now.

What a boring job, it would be hard not to fall asleep!

What a sad state for your country and the people who love it. And no public transport makes life hard for so many people.

Shame to see things go into decline.

I find derelict stations and lines so sad. Such a brilliant way to link communities without cars. Beautiful setting with those colours behind

Such a sad state of affairs
June 5th, 2023
How sad to see all in decline , and such a neat train station!

When the railways go, the life blood of a country is stifled. According to Ayn Rand in Atlas Shrugged. Very very sad

Oh dear how sad

That's cushy job for that man though I don't know how he can stick sitting there doing nothing day after day. We have people like him in govt. or govt. agency employment. Normally they would be friends of friends and the people pay. Having said this I like your capture of this lovely scene. Even the derelict station looks nice in this environment.

Great POV, capture, editing and presentation. Thanks for the narrative. Sad state of affairs.
June 5th, 2023
Nice capture but a very sad tale
June 5th, 2023
It is in a beautiful setting, but it seems a bit ridiculous to guard some thing that is not going to be used. I really like your POV for the photo.
June 5th, 2023
Lovely capture! Got to keep it from being smothered in graffiti too!
June 5th, 2023
Great shot and POV. Kind of sad how times change and you see such productive structures turn into days gone by.

A sad commentary on this interesting scene.

Awesome photo of the buildings and landscape fv
June 5th, 2023
Lovely shot and such an interesting looking building.
June 5th, 2023
A great perspective! I understand your frustration. It is really too bad that they don't maintain it. It would be a wonderful thing for students for sure!
June 5th, 2023
A great abandonment capture - And even though I am an introvert, that job seems too lonely!
June 5th, 2023
nice
June 5th, 2023
wonderful layers of colors behind the station
June 5th, 2023
It is so sad that the world class rail system we had before has been left to go to ruin so that it cannot ever function again without being almost completely rebuilt
June 5th, 2023
A sad situation but I bet no quick fix to make it better. The colours are lovely though.
June 5th, 2023
Such a shame & such a basic transportation need really. Our railways aren’t functioning too well at the moment, but that’s due to striking workers!!
June 5th, 2023
It's a fabulous picture, and I love the old station, even with its overgrown tracks
June 5th, 2023
yeah we lost our railway in 2004
June 5th, 2023
A great perspective for your capture of the grey run-down station, backdropped by the warm colours of the fields. But yes, this is a sad state of affairs. Fav
June 5th, 2023
Great capture. We have a number of abandoned railway stations throughout Alberta
June 5th, 2023
Sounds like a challenging place to live… love your POV for this shot.
June 5th, 2023
Great capture of the nice station and a sad story to read.
June 5th, 2023
It definitely looks sad and lonely and only the sun seems to be bright enough to smile. Stations like this are hit or miss here. In some places they're up and running but others have been shut down over time. Good catch!
June 5th, 2023
I agree with @casablanca totally! It is the same here - we have a railway line that is used for freight and not passengers!
June 5th, 2023
Oh no so sad, it must be hard for people that do not have a vehicle to get around!
Nicely composed shot!
June 6th, 2023
Sad and scary. Mobility is so important for so many reasons.
June 6th, 2023
The shops and buildings you photographed before looked so loved and well cared for, it seems surprising that the infrastructure is not being supported. Beautiful background in your capture.
June 6th, 2023
Wow, great shot. Surprised that they have a guard for that building.
June 6th, 2023
@sangwann @rickster549 If he were not there, everything would be ripped apart and stolen ;-(
June 6th, 2023
So very sad.
June 7th, 2023
@louannwarren Thanks Lou Ann, it sure is :-)
