Sugarbird

A few weeks ago we went to this well known Botanical garden called Kirstenbosch. It normally wins first prize at the international garden show in England. Situated on the slopes of Table Mountain with stunning views and is a paradise for all flora and bird lovers. Unfortunately the weather was bad when we were there.
wow how amazing is that bird!

Beautiful capture! Wow- the bad weather isn't showing up in this shot whatsoever. How big is this bird? My husband and I were fascinated with the tail feathers and beak and wondering if the tail was longer than the bird is big!

Super capture. Really neat looking bird.
February 23rd, 2021
@olivetreeann The tail is at least double if not three times as long as the bird Ann. It is quite a small bird restricted to South Africa. Unfortunately I did not get the whole tail in the frame as it kept blowing in the wind :-)

Kirstenbosch! One of my very favorite memories of being in South Africa. I drink from my Kirstenbosch mugs all the time and have wonderful memories of the place. Your capture shows such a beauty of composition as well as singularly of the bird and flower .
February 23rd, 2021
@ludwigsdiana Wow- that is a LONG tail- no wonder it was hard to get it all in the picture!
