The Cat's Meow

Talk about a great day in the great outdoors! This was one of them. I wish I could say that this photo was taken from high up in a tree where I'd been hiding out for hours in wait for the perfect moment to capture a picture of this bobcat. Instead I must admit that it was taken from a walkway that arches over the home of this amazing cat at the Wildlife Prairie Park outside of Peoria, IL. This park is known for its incredible efforts of creating very natural settings for its resident animals. It can be downright challenging to spot the creatures sometimes. Mr. Bobcat here blended in quite well among all the autumn browns in his area. Thankfully his afternoon stroll took him through a well-lit area that allowed me to get the picture I hoped for.

By the way, I spent some time today checking acorns - had never noticed the stripes before - would have to do a lot of selective hunting to find such good examples of the stripes as you found.
