Autumn Ornamentals by lyndemc

Autumn Ornamentals

My ornamental grasses have gotten in on the changing of the seasons, their long green leaves turning a variety of reds, yellows, oranges and of course browns. The colors seemed extra vibrant in today's rain.

So simple and such pretty tones.

I am always amazed at the saturation of colours with rain. This is gorgeous, love the dof.

Another one of those shots that I can see in my mind but can't ever get to look like this. What wonderful clarity to these grasses. Love their colors (doesn't the rain do great things to colors - I noticed that this afternoon) and the every-which-way they're going. Wonderful free abstract shot.

I love the variety of tones in this exciting image; and WOW, does it look great on black. There's so much interest here...I just keep looking and looking. Love the pretty border you put around it all, too.

I totally agree with Milanie @milaniet as this kind of shot is something I've often tried, but it is really hard to pull off. This one makes such a lovely abstract with all the criss-crossing line.

I like how it is compressed down to lines and arcs....

@kategoring Yeah, some things I don't even want to shoot until they've been rained on because they're colors don't show up until they're wet. This grass was one of those things.

@milaniet @taffy Thanks for your reassuring words. I wasn't sure about posting the pic as it didn't come across as all that exciting on screen. But I just love the way the grass looks in the rain and wanted a frame-filled abstract-type image in the project. Your comments have made me glad I shared this one.

@janetb Thanks so much Janet. Your comment was reassuring as well. That part about looking and looking is what I find myself doing with the grass in the yard so I thought I'd attempt to see if a photograph captured the allure of the colors.

@cruiser Oh, you're right — the view on black makes quite a difference. Thanks for having a closer look. And for the Fav too.
