Campfire Cookin' by lyndemc

Campfire Cookin'

Because of the challenge it can be to find picture opportunities around home I decided that having a travel trailer and hittin' the road would be a good way to come across new and interesting things to photograph. My husband and I have been camping almost every weekend this summer but all in the same campground, in fact in the same site most every time. Talk about adventurous! Of course now that I'm back into 365 maybe I'll manage to convince Dave to check out a new place or two.

There's potatoes bakin' in that cast iron oven. Mmm, where they every good!
Nice shot! I love the soft edges.

Wow, just wish I could get out camping one time. Cool shot, and the potatoes do sound yummy, especially out camping.

I never thought of baking potatoes in a cast iron pot - neat! Love the way the flames came out here. The focus is neat. We have a campground just across the river bridge and I'd guess you'd find a good percent of the campers are from within a 10 mile radius of here.

Great shot, just says "camping life" to me.

Super shot and I bet those potatoes were tasty! I'm very envious of your camping - sounds like great fun. I laughed at your comments of persuading Dave to do something different ... maybe it's a man thing. I like new adventures too, but my husband always prefers to go back to the 'tried and tested'!

I can almost smell them. How lucky you are to be out camping every weekend. Nothing quite like a camp fire.

I like the blur, it makes it feel hotter.

@rickster549 Oh, I highly recommend camping. My husband says it's the only time he sees me actually sit still — it's a great time for truly relaxing.

@milaniet Interesting about the campers being not too far from home. I suppose that's probably true of most campgrounds! It's a good way to get away from the home responsibilities for a day or so.

@jamibann I was hoping to buy a tiny little camper, one small enough to pull with my gas-friendly car but we ended up with a slightly larger one (not mammoth like so many of the rigs out there) that requires a pick-up truck to pull it. The gas mileage is mostly the reason for staying local, and then too Dave doesn't want to spend the majority of the weekend driving to and fro... he'd rather get more lounging-by-the-fire time in. :)

@cruiser It's been a very enjoyable summer, full of lovely, laid-back weekends. We know those are numbered now what with cold nights coming. Last year we camped clear into the middle of November, until it got below freezing and threatened to freeze the water lines in the camper.

@trinda The blur is thanks to Lensbaby. I like the idea of it making the scene look hotter. Thanks for sharin' that thought.

There's nothing like it!
